Cold ceramics, painting and graphics in an exhibition by Stavri Kalinov

12 sculptures made with cold ceramics and 49 paintings and graphics by the artist Stavri Kalinov are part of the Post Mortem exhibition dedicated to him.

The official opening of the exhibition is on April 30 at 6 p.m. in the “Sredets” gallery.

During his lifetime, Kalinov worked with a variety of materials, including metal, glass, ceramics and silk. “Stavri Kalinov will always be stronger than death, because his art was not and will never be perishable. An original, non-standard, curious and fascinating artist, he completely covers the idea of ​​the true artist, of the true creator, of the playing man or also the so-called Homo Ludens!” said Prof. Lyubomir Stoykov, who is the author of the book about the maestro “Kalinography” and his long-time friend.

Stavri Kalinov is a Bulgarian sculptor and artist. He was born on November 15, 1944 in Vidin and died in Sofia on September 12, 2023 at the age of 78. He works in the field of monumental and small sculpture, painting, graphics and applied art. In 1964, he graduated from high school in his hometown, after which he worked as a freelancer in the field of posters, commercial advertising and making art objects. In 1977, he graduated from the National Academy of Arts – specialty “Wood Carving”, in the class of Prof. Asen Vassilev.

He makes the sautets awarded to the winners of many elite competitions in Bulgaria. His work includes the statuettes for the winner in the “Female Manager of the Year” category in the “Female Entrepreneur” and “Female Manager of the Year” contests of the Club of Women Entrepreneurs and Managers, for the “Golden Mesemvria” festival, for the “Balkanika 2006” literary award, for the contest “Mr. Economy” and a number of others. With his generosity and altruism, Stavri Kalinov provided non-grant assistance, making many humanitarian gestures, donations and grants to a number of non-profit organizations, social and state missions and initiatives.

He is the recipient of various awards, including the “Golden Age” award of the Ministry of Culture for a special contribution to the development and popularization of Bulgarian culture (2016), the “Crystal Star” of the “Makta” gallery (1995), etc. The world-famous online galleries “Artsper” places the name of Stavri Kalinov next to the names of Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Gustav Klimt and others.
