The Indian Infosys is opening an office in Sofia and is looking for a team of 500 people

--

Indian software services exporter Infosys has announced the opening of a new IT center in Sofia as part of its continued expansion into Europe. In the next 4 years, the company plans to expand its workforce in the country to 500 employees. The local team will work on global projects related to next-generation digital technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud systems.

Specifically, specialists in Infosys Cobalt, Cloud Solutions, Infosys Topaz AI & Automation, Data and Insights, IoT, 5G and Software Engineering will be sought.

The new center will help the Indian company expand its already established relationships with the European manufacturing, retail and financial services sectors.

We will continue to expand our presence in Europe. Bulgaria is known for its exceptional IT professionals and we are excited to build a team to meet the needs of the next generation of skills and technology solutions” commented Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President and Head of Delivery at Infosys.

The IT center in Sofia will also serve as an innovation hub for the growth of teams in the field of digital, analytical, system applications and data processing products (SAP) and cloud technologies.

The Indian outsourcing industry began by providing low-cost back office solutions to some of the world’s largest corporations. Its importance has grown over time, and now it is betting on the rise of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive digital business transformation and earn higher margins.

Infosys was founded in 1981. The company serves customers in 56 countries with a workforce of over 300,000 people. The company went public in 1993 and today is the second largest exporter of software services in India. The giant, along with Tata Consultancy, are leaders in the local market, estimated at about $250 billion.

The company is running about 80 projects on generative artificial intelligence, one of the hottest technologies in recent times.

Against this backdrop, the IT industry reports a downward trend in global technology spending. This also prompted Infosys to lower its forecasts for the financial year ending March 2024. The Indian company said it expects revenue to rise 1 to 2.5 percent, which would be the slowest pace in six years. Analysts expected an average of 5% growth.
