Rafael Nadal’s comeback could happen sooner than expected. The Spanish tennis star suffered an injury at the Australian Open in January this year which left him unable to play for some time.

New number 1 and a few surprises
Nadal took this opportunity to rest and heal injuries sustained over the years, undergoing surgery in Barcelona in June. And by all accounts, the recovery seems to be going so well that he’ll be back to competitive tennis soon.
According to Toni Nadal, Rafa’s uncle and his former coach, the athlete feels encouraged by his progress in training matches and may even enter the Davis Cup tournament, which begins with qualifications in September and whose final is in Malaga in November.
And if all goes according to plan, he will even return to the courts for the Australian Open in 2024.
Rafael Nadal made the decision to temporarily retire from tennis earlier this year after making public statements saying he wanted to temporarily focus on his recovery. He then added that he plans to retire soon and therefore needs to give his body time to recover in order to fully enjoy his last year in professional tennis, Hola recalled.

“These are my plans for now, but still I can’t say if everything will be exactly like this 100%. But at this stage I want to enjoy the sport for the last time, saying a dignified goodbye to all the tournaments that have been important to me” , adds Rafael Nadal.
