On today’s date – April 24, the prima of Bulgarian music Lili Ivanova was born.
Lili Ivanova was born in the town of Kubrat, and graduated from a medical college in Varna. She later worked as a nurse.
In 1961, she was approved for an audition at the “Concert Directorate”, Sofia, which organized the first overseas tour together with Emil Dimitrov, Irina Chmihova and Maria Koseva in Romania.
In 1963, she participated in the program of the Ambassador Hotel and the Tanase Theater in Bucharest. Her brilliant performance was reflected in four live broadcasts on Romanian state television.

Lili Ivanova released her first album at the suggestion of the Romanian company Electrecord in 1963, which was also the first long-playing record by a Bulgarian artist.
Lily’s first song is “Vitosha” with music and lyrics by Mikhail Manolov.
He performed his first concert in Bulgaria in 1964 in the “Universiade” hall together with Jane Svert and the rock group “Northern Tigers”, and the first award he won was the “Golden Key” in 1966 in Bratislava.
Today, Lili Ivanova has thousands of concerts, hundreds of songs, dozens of albums and media appearances behind her.
Called “The Primate of Bulgarian Pop Music”, Lili has been one of the most loved singers in Bulgaria for decades.
There has been a lot of speculation over the years about her age, with different sources putting her at different ages.
She jokes about it herself, saying:
“Well, every birthday I’m given a five-year-old from above. The way it’s going, I’ll be over a hundred soon.”
