The Canadian singer Celine Dionwho continues to fight the disease, talks about it in her first interview since the diagnosis was announced, reported AFP.

Dion spoke candidly to the French edition of Vogue magazine. The singer is on the cover of his new issue.

 

Diagnosed in fall 2022 with rare neurological diseaseknown as Stiff person syndrome (SPS), the 56-year-old Quebec star revealed that she undergoes “sports, physical and vocal therapy” five days a week, during which she works on both her body and and on your voice.

“Things are going well, but it’s a lot of work. Day after day,” confides the singer in a lengthy interview.

“I’m not over the disease, it’s still in me and it will be forever. We’ll find a way – I’m even hoping for a miracle, to cure it with scientific research, but I have to adjust to living with it,” says Celine Dion.

Asked about the possibility of returning to the stage, the singer says that she is unable to answer this question.

“I don’t know. My body will tell me,” shared Dion in the interview, accompanied by several photos of the star dressed for the occasion by top French designers.

In a video interview, the singer, who has sold over 250 million copies of her albums, also commented on a number of key aspects of her 40-year career. At times she can be heard singing for a few seconds at a time.

 

In early February, Celine Dion made a surprise brief appearance at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles to present the top prize for album of the year to Taylor Swift.

The Quebec star has not appeared on stage since the concert in Newark, USA, in March 2020. Her Courage World Tour was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2021, the singer has been suffering from manifestations of The Stiff Man Syndrome.

Affecting approximately one person in a million, this syndrome causes severe pain and difficulty in movement that prevents the performance of physically demanding activities.

 

In late January, Amazon Prime Video announced it was releasing a documentary about the singer, I Am: Celine Dion, in which she wants to “raise awareness” of her illness.
