Zdrava Kamenova narrowly escaped psychiatry

In front of Mont Deux stands an actress who is celebrating her name day today – Zdrava Kamenova. Success does not come easily to her, and after her first birth she even thinks of emigrating, until there are people in the theater who give the playwright in her a chance. And so, step by step, the doll actress turned her name into a brand.

She writes author’s or dramaturgical texts, acts on stage, in the cinema and dubs on television. She is a multi-functional artist who, however, has this strength after the biggest crisis in her life – depression in her teenage years.

Kamenova gives her first interview not as a comedian, but as the woman whose life is not just a summer sea breeze.

“I travel constantly, I don’t like to be bored. I constantly challenge myself. I have taken from my childhood both the bad and the good. The brightest periods in my life are after childhood,” says Zdrava Kamenova.

She adds that she spends her life in the center of Sofia, on Macedonia Square, a place she says is taken from a Marquez novel. “I spent a lot of time at home. We lived in a huge apartment. There were people constantly in our living room telling different stories, which they shared with my grandmother. I read a lot of books, ones that my little soul wasn’t ready for,” Kamenova adds.

She says she was anxious. “I went through a psychiatrist’s office, but I didn’t stay there. Then a figure appeared in my life, a friend of my father’s – a psychologist with innovative insights. What he did for me was that he turned my whole world upside down. He discovered my strat to writing. It made me visualize my fears, make fun of them. It gave me a great tool,” says the actress.

“I am a person who managed with not a single pill. And life is getting better and better,” adds Zdrava Kamenova.

She says that her anger is related to aggression and arrogance. “It’s imperative for me to turn the tables on the bad and find a way to make fun of it,” she says.
