A notebook with young Emilia can choose parents for their little ones
Chalga singers are back on the covers of school notebooks. In recent years, schools, bookstores, and parents have boycotted children’s books that feature nude women on the covers. There were even calls to “burn a chalga notebook – save a child”. The attacks were basically that the defiant female singers were corrupting the students with their songs and behavior. The editions were not bought and this logically led to their disappearance from the market.
At the beginning of this school year, there is a resurgence of chalga notebooks. The folk singer Emilia is one of the first who is afraid to release a resource with her photo again. In fact, the edition is not new, but a product from the distant year 2012. This is visible not only from the product description, but also from the photo of the performer, in which she is visibly younger. For BGN 2 you can buy a notebook with 40 sheets with wide lines, writes “Bulgaria Today”.
The aid is sold online only, and you have to pay extra for delivery by courier. The same size notebooks can be found in Chinese stores, for example, at prices below the levy, so the amount is higher than usual. But the increase is because of the photo shoot with a folk singer on the cover. Already years ago, the Ministry of Education explained that there was no way to limit the sale of chalga notebooks, as this could happen through publishers and bookstores. Responsibility was also directed at parents who allow their children to have such publications.
