The sitcom has cemented its status as one of the greatest television shows ever created, popular not only in the decade it aired, but absolutely recognizable to this day. A large part of its participants are also recognizable – and not only the main actors, but also all those who played secondary or episodic roles.

Hollywood Life recalls exactly who they were.

Ron Leibman

Although he only appeared in four episodes of Friends, he is memorable to true fans for his wonderful portrayal of Rachel’s domineering father, Dr. Leonard Green. His debut is in the second season, and his last appearance is in the 10th.

In addition to his role in the sitcom, Ron is also known for his many film incarnations throughout his long career. He even won an Emmy for his role in Kaz in 1979 and a Tony for Angels In America in 1993. He passed away after complications from pneumonia in 2019, aged 82.

James Michael Tyler

Undoubtedly one of the most recognizable secondary characters from “Friends”, in the role of the amorous bartender Gunter. He appears in a total of 148 episodes. And although he has appeared in other films, this role remains his most famous.

In 2018, James was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He died after a short battle with the disease at the age of 59, in October, 2021. “The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh friend) from the hit series, but to those close to him he was a musician and a loving husband,” a statement from his family.

Max Wright

Best known as Willie Tanner on Alf, Wright appeared in the first two seasons of Friends as Terry, the owner of the Central Perk Cafe.

The actor had been battling lymphoma since 1995. His disease was in remission until 2019, when he passed away after complications at the age of 75.

Conchata Ferrell

The actress played the judge who refused to annul Ross and Rachel’s marriage. Subsequently, she became world famous for her character Bertha on the sitcom Two and a Half Men, a role that earned her an Emmy Award nomination for supporting actress in a comedy series.

After a cardiac arrest in October 2020, Conchata Ferrell died at the age of 77.

Mike Haggerty

He was the lovable Mr. Trigger, the house cleaner in the building where the friends live. And appears in a number of episodes of the series.

Throughout his career as an actor, he entered mainly comedic roles. Passed away suddenly in May 2022, aged 67.

Taylor Negron

His appearance in the series is a one-off, but memorable one. He is Alessandro, owner of a restaurant of the same name. In a season 4 episode, comes into conflict with Monica as head chef.

Taylor appeared in a wide variety of film and television roles throughout her career. He left this world after a battle with liver cancer in 2015, aged 57.

Joel Beeson

He was the unforgettable charismatic cowboy “The hombre man” who was serious competition for Joey while promoting perfumes in a large shopping mall.

Interestingly, Joel himself was also the face of fragrances in the 90s. He passed away at the age of 51 in October 2017.

Robin Williams

Undoubtedly, he was one of the biggest Hollywood stars to make a cameo appearance on “Friends” at the height of his fame. He co-starred with fellow comedian Billy Crystal in the third season of the sitcom. And his participation, of course, is unforgettable.
