It has been known for several months that this year’s Earthshot Awards ceremony will be held in Singapore. And for several weeks – that unfortunately for her many fans there, Kate Middleton will not be attending.

On the other hand, Prince William managed to garner a lot of sympathy and admiring glances as soon as he arrived at Chengi Airport in Singapore on November 4. Dozens of people had gathered to welcome the crown prince.
Among them was an eight-month-old baby, with whom William did not fail to play. He will participate in a number of events related to the awards. That’s because, for the first year, Earthshot is being celebrated all week long with meetings, activities and educational panels that connect award participants with businesses and investors.

One of the first activities the Prince of Wales took part in was the traditional dragon boat race. He was not just an observer, but a participant in the British Dragons team that finished first. After the race, captain Chris Bosher even offered William a spot on the team for his next race.

The Prince took part in breakfast with all the competitors before heading to the United for Wildlife meeting, where various measures to tackle the illegal wildlife trade were discussed.
The official award ceremony for five prize winners will take place on November 7. Meanwhile, all major landmarks in Singapore will remain illuminated in green in solidarity with Earthshot and Prince William’s mission.
