Tickets for actor John Malkovich’s appearance in Cotton Fields Loneliness at the National Theater on February 16, 17 and 18 will go on sale at 12 noon on January 25. They will be sold both at the theater box office and at Eventim.

The performance is one of the most mysterious works of contemporary art by Bernard-Marie Coltes. The director is Timofey Kulyabin. Malkovich and the Lithuanian actress Ingeborga Dapkunaite will transport the audience to another dimension – “In the loneliness of the cotton fields”. The visit is part of the world tour of the great actor, and the performance is part of the program of the Dayles Theater in Riga.


It is hardly necessary to write at length to introduce John Malkovich, known to the public from his numerous roles in the most powerful film industry – Hollywood. His partner Ingeborga Dapkunaite also has serious stage experience. The Lithuanian partnered with Malkovich not for the first time. The two have joint projects on stage at the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago and the Ronacher Theater in Vienna. Malkovich stepped into the role of director, in which he performed at London’s Sheftesberry Theatre. Ingeborga Dapkunaite has also worked with directors such as Eimuntas Nyakrošius, Kevin Spacey, Michael Stürminger, Eva Ensler (the author of “Vaginal Monologues”.

Tickets for the show cost from BGN 50 to BGN 400, divided into eight price categories, “Ploschad Slaveykov” writes. “In the solitude of the cotton fields” will be played in English, and Bulgarian subtitles will be played on special monitors.
