- The assistant driver of the train in question, Petrov, got off the locomotive and with two passengers went for coffee and a cigarette
- The head of the station made a remark that the train was late and they had to leave for Sofia
Two train drivers from the Burgas-Sofia high-speed train beat the manager of the Tulovo station, according to railway documents cited by OFFNEWS.
The beating took place in front of dozens of witnesses around 11:30 on March 7. Because of the incident, the express train was delayed by 26 minutes.
According to a report on the incident by the head of the station, Petyo Todorov, the scandal arose after the assistant driver of the train in question, Petrov, got off the locomotive and with two passengers went to the reception building to buy a coffee and smoke.
The station master made a remark that the train arrived a little late and they had to leave for Sofia. In response, he received a barrage of ugly curses, calling him a “fool”. The driver of the high-speed train, Dimo Dimov, also got involved in the arguments. He reached out and knocked the hat off the shocked stationmaster’s head with a blow. After that, the driver’s assistant Petrov punched him twice in the face. One of his colleagues – Iliya Dobrev – came to the aid of the employee of NKŽI.
The ugly scenes were witnessed by the passengers of two trains that were at the station at the same time.
The head of the station in Tulovo, Petyo Todorov, has obtained a medical certificate for the beating and intends to sue the train drivers from BDZ. The transport brigade of the Burgas-Sofia train also confirms his words about aggressive behavior on the part of the two drivers.
“In 39 years of service in the railways, this is the first time I have experienced such indecent and rude treatment by colleagues. Such behavior undermines the authority of the railway in society as a whole,” states Petyo Todorov in his report on what happened.
