
The painting by the world-famous artist Jackson Pollock discovered in Bulgaria was part of the personal collection of the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, reports BNT, citing sources familiar with the investigation.
She was found in Sofia during an operation by the GDBOP and the Greek Office for the Fight against Organized Crime under the coordination of Europol. The operation against the trafficking of cultural values was carried out both in our country and on the territory of Athens and the island of Crete, and two Greek and one Bulgarian citizen were detained.
On the back of the picture there is a stamp in the Romanian language, and it was he who indicated that it was a work of art from the personal collection of the late dictator (1918-1989), who ruled our northern neighbor until the fall of the communist regime before 1989.
This morning, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Petar Todorov, said that so far the examinations indicate that it is an original.
The painting was handed over to specialists from the National Art Galleries, whose expertise has shown that it is an original uncategorized work by Jackson Pollock from 1949. Its price at an auction house could reach 50 million euros.
