“Aida” by Franco Zeffirelli is the star highlight in the July program of Opera in the Summer Theater in Varna, the Theater and Music Production Center informs Moreto.net.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the great opera director’s birth, the Varna Opera House, in collaboration with the National Opera Theater of Albania, arranged the rights to the production of Zeffirelli along with the original costumes, props and set design. Two consecutive dates are planned for the glamorous premiere.

On July 14th in the role of the Ethiopian princess, we will listen to the dramatic soprano Ioana Zhelezcheva together with Mihaela Berova, Valery Georgiev, Svilen Nikolov, Evgeni Stanimirov. On July 15, world prima Krasimira Stoyanova will triumph as Aidawho will sing with Milen Bozhkov, Krasen Karagyozov and Deyan Vachkov, and the role of Amneris will be performed by the Albanian opera star Ivana Hoxha.

On July 7and as a joint project with the International Music Festival “Varna Summer” we stage Leos Janacek’s opera “The Sly Fox”. The allegorical story about the cycle of life is under the contemporary direction of Vera Nemirova, and the conductor-director is maestro Pavel Balev. The production is a collaboration with the Volkstheater from Rostock, Germany.

The premiere of the hit musical “Bodyguard” based on the Hollywood film of the same name, it has a first date July 22, starring Orlin Goranov as bodyguard Frank Farmer and English film and musical actress Manal El Feituri as Rachel Maron. The tour of an actress from London’s West End is an event in the history of musicals in Bulgaria. Popular songs will be played, conducted by Stracimir Pavlov and directed by Boris Pankin.

At the grand ballet gala on July 27 we will present to the audience a performance with beautiful dance excerpts from “Swan Lake”, “Katarina, or the Robber’s Daughter”, “Carmen”, “Antigone” and “Spartacus” in a choreographic reading by Sergey Bobrov. In the past year 2022, the ballet company of the Varna Opera triumphed on three continents.

A grand finale of the fourteenth summer season will set the gala the concert of the world opera diva Sonia Yonchevawho will sing for the first time in Varna on August 31.
