Beroe and Spartak Varna drew 1:1 in a meeting of the 33rd round of the First League in the group for the distribution of places 11-16. The Varna Falcons, who are last in the standings, needed a win to revive their chances, but they added just a point and now have 22.
In front of them is Heber with 23, while Beroe is in 12th place with 31 points and looks at the last two meetings with more optimism.
The game was full of nerves, breakdowns and yellow cards, and the goals fell before the break through Evandro for the visitors and Serkan Yousein for Beroe.
Already in the 6th minute, the home team from Stara Zagora could have taken the lead, but the crossbar saved goalkeeper Figueiredo. Everything happened after a free kick by Simeon Mechev, the ball fell to the young Vasil Vasilev. He continued it to Max Celic, but his shot was touched by the goalkeeper and hit the crossbar, writes BTA.
In the 19th minute, the guests from Varna opened the scoring through Evandro Felipe, who received a long pass from Leroy Mikels. Evandro outran a defender and Simeon Mechev, who was pursuing him, and dropped the ball under goalkeeper Karadjov’s dive.
After just one minute, Spartak could have doubled its lead, but Balaniuk, who was 9-10 meters away from the goal, shot into the body of an opponent and did not find a way to the net.
The visitors from Varna continued to control the events on the field and instead of retreating at half-time with a lead, they were punished by a long and treacherous shot by Serkan Yussein, which caught goalkeeper Figueiredo by surprise.
In the 56th minute, Spartak could have taken the lead, but Leroy Mikels’ long-range shot skidded off the crossbar and went wide. The German continued to be a danger for Beroe and in the 65th minute, after a combination with Evandro, he got into a good position diagonally and shot, but the angle was small and the ball went high into the box.
The guests continued to be the more active team, possessed more of the ball, and before the 75th minute they had claims for a foul against Daniel Nachev on the edge of the penalty area. Shortly after, Romesh Ivey touched the ball with a chance and sent it towards the goal, but very weakly and Karadjov caught it.
Beroi also had some good situations, as in the 81st minute Verdi Mara shot from ten meters, but not exactly on the diagonal. 10 minutes earlier, two football players – Čelich and Kaloyan Krastev missed the ball after taking a corner kick. By the end of the match, Leroy Mikels missed another good opportunity for Spartak, which was also the last football action of the match.
