The 11th-grader from Pazardzhik, who hit a 92-year-old woman, was released on bail

The Pazardzhik District Court issued bail in the amount of BGN 3,000 for 18-year-old Vasil E. from the village of Dobrovnitsa, who on May 21 of this year hit during a reverse maneuver the 92-year-old H.P. The woman later died in hospital.

The eleventh-grader from the local Vocational High School of Chemical and Food Technologies sat behind the wheel of a BMW without a driver’s license and because of the tragedy was detained in custody, and the court changed his sentence. The prosecutor’s office insisted on a measure of remand, “detention in custody”, since the young man had old offenses – driving while intoxicated and his driving license was revoked. However, according to his defense, the educational institution presented an excellent description of the boy, as well as a letter with positive words from the mayor of the village and a signature that Vasil enjoyed a good name in Dobrovnitsa. According to the young man’s lawyer, he did not leave the scene of the accident, he cooperated with the police.

The teenager was tested for alcohol and drug use, and his samples were negative.
