
380 unemployed people started work in April in Haskovo region, Ivan Georgiev from the Regional Employment Office in Haskovo announced at a press conference today. A total of 359 vacancies have been applied for.
The unemployment rate in the region in April was 6.5% compared to 5.2 for the country. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.1% compared to March 2023 (5,474 – 6.6%), and compared to April 2022 it remained the same (5,393 – 6.5%). The municipalities with the lowest unemployment rate are Svilengrad – 4.8% and Dimitrovgrad – 4.8%. Among the reasons for the drop in unemployment in the border region are the employment of people in casinos and seasonal work in neighboring Greece. The municipality of Ivaylovgrad has the highest unemployment – 17.8%.
Haskovo district is thus ranked 13th in terms of unemployment rate among the 28 districts in the country.
There were 606 newly registered people during the month, with the largest number being from the service sector – 260, 181 from the industry sector, 20 from the agricultural sector, and 145 unemployed who have not defined their industry.
A larger share of the unemployed are women – 3,212 (59%), and men are 2,202 (41%). According to age, the most unemployed are in the over 55 age group – 30.1% (1,627). The unemployed over 50 are 2,415 or 44.6% of the total registered. The number of registered youths up to 29 years old is 544 or 10%, decreasing by 32 compared to the previous month. Long-term unemployed persons with a stay at the Labor Bureau for more than 1 year are 997 or 18.4% of all registered persons, increasing by 18 people compared to the previous month.
