Ten years since its establishment will be celebrated by the Lions Club – Targovishte. The solemn celebration of the anniversary will be on June 3 with several events and a charity initiative, club president Tanya Kirilova told BTA.
The anniversary is also an occasion to open a sundial in the center of Targovishte, sponsored and built by the Lions Club. The clock will be located in the kindergarten east of the Hristo Botev First Primary School. Immediately after the opening of the clock, the “Lions’ Choir” initiative will take place – a free folk dance lesson led by choreographer Maria Benzarova.
The charity dinner with a cause is for the creation of the country’s second Day Care Center for children and adults with disabilities, with epilepsy as a priority, in the regional city. The dinner with a BGN 100 envelope will be hosted by the “Nova Mizia” restaurant. The organizers add that the charity – non-present envelope in support of the idea is BGN 60 and invite the residents of Targovishte to join the initiatives.
Kirilova said that the Lions Club – Targovishte is part of the Association of Lions Clubs from District 130 Bulgaria – part of the largest and most effective organization in the service of society, with more than 1.3 million members worldwide. The main objective of the organization is to work for the benefit of society and the needy. It is no coincidence that the motto of the Lions movement is “We serve”.
Lions Club – Targovishte was founded in 2013 with 20 members, and currently there are 13, explained its chairman. At different periods, some members leave, others join the ranks of the organization, driven by noble intentions for the benefit of others. “We are proud of the attraction and creation on November 15, 2022 of our Leo-club, which numbers 23 children aged 12-16,” says Tanya Kirilova.
Over the years, the Lions Club – Targovishte has implemented various charitable initiatives. One of them is, for example, the Christmas “Buy and Give” campaign, where 60 people in an unequal situation of extreme poverty are supported. About 600 kg of products were collected. We donated about 100 kg of the products to the Complex for mental health care in the community in the Bryag quarter, Kirilova recalled. Children draw themed cards and delight the recipients of the donations.
