IN Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel met with a business delegation from the state of Utah. The delegation was led by Jonathan Friedman, President and CEO of the World Trade Center in Utah.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Bulgarian IT industry from the Silicon Valley, the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

Utah is among the top states for IT employment and leads the charts for fastest-growing regions in terms of new jobs in the technology industry. There are over 9,300 technology businesses in the state.

The USA is among the main destinations for Bulgarian high-tech products with about 10% of total sales on foreign markets.

“The promotion of commercial and economic cooperation is at the center of the cooperation between Bulgaria and the USA. Bulgaria is a reliable partner, a factor of stability in Southeast Europe and a regional innovation hub,” said Maria Gabriel.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Bulgaria has a dynamic technological ecosystem.

The meeting in Los Angeles is expected to be followed by a visit of an American business delegation to Bulgaria at the invitation of Maria Gabriel.
