Spartak (Varna) beat Krumovgrad 1:0 in a match of the 1/16 finals in the Sesame Cup Bulgaria tournament. Thus, the team led by Stanislav Genchev became the second elite team to be eliminated in this stage of the tournament, after Black Sea was eliminated by Litex yesterday. The home side’s victory came after a Ryan Senhaji own goal in the 73rd minute, following a strike from Mehmed Sabri.
The first serious situation in the match was in the 13th minute, when Patrick Luan was found in the penalty area of the home team and shot from close range, but not accurately.
In the 36th minute, Krumovgrad twice failed to open the scoring. First, Serkan Yousein shot dangerously from a direct free kick, but the goalkeeper was able to clear the ball. At the ensuing corner, Bozhidar Katsarov managed to shoot, but Spartak 1918 Varna’s goalkeeper Nikola Videnov managed to clear the ball from the goal line. In the 59th minute, Mehmed Sabri was put in an excellent position behind the defense of the guests, advanced, overcame the goalkeeper Yanko Georgiev and shot, but failed to hit the goal. 14 minutes later, Spartak (Varna) scored the winning goal in the match. Mehmed Sabri entered the penalty area and shot, the ball bounced off the leg of Ryan Senhaji and into the Krumovgrad goal to ensure success for the Second League side.
