Bulgaria celebrated the Day of the People’s Awakeners with initiatives throughout the country. According to tradition in front of the Presidency, the head of state Rumen Radev accepted the formation of the national guard unit. The national flag was raised to the sounds of the national anthem.
In his speech, Rumen Radev stated that spirituality, enlightenment and patriotism are the basis of the nation’s progress and unity.

The ceremonies in the presidency were attended by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and Chairman of the National Assembly Rosen Zhelyazkov.
The holiday of the people’s awakeners is a celebration of the free and enlightened Bulgarian spirit, wrote Patriarch Neofit in an official address for the holiday. Such a holiday can only be held by a nation that does not know conciliation and is aware of the importance of its spiritual, cultural and state tradition, the patriarch also wrote.
