Bulgaria is a gateway to Europe thanks to its geographical position and the border with Turkey, and together with good education, which ensures the training of talents and experts, offers numerous opportunities for investment. This message was delivered by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov during a meeting with representatives of 15 of the largest American companies. It was also attended by the ambassador of the United States of America (USA) to Bulgaria, Kenneth Merten, and the chairman of the American-Central European Business Association, Eric Stewart, the press center of the Council of Ministers announced.
“The region will develop and we want Bulgaria to be a central part of this process. I am convinced that we can turn it into its brand. Our country is strong in many fields, among which are electronics, information technologies, robotics, medicine, automotive industry, the defense industry. We want to develop modern European high-tech industry. We have all the conditions to do something bigger. That’s why we are looking for bigger investors like you,” the Prime Minister addressed the meeting participants.
Academician Denkov noted the economic growth of Bulgaria despite the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The gross domestic product (GDP) of our country marks a growth of 3.9% in 2022.
During the meeting, the essential importance of political stability in the country for attracting investments and developing the business environment was highlighted. Achieving part of the cabinet’s priorities – the acceptance of our country into the Schengen area, its joining the Eurozone and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, will be the basis on which Bulgaria will develop its capabilities, the Prime Minister assured the delegation.
The representatives of each of the companies talked about their activity and role in the market. They are part of various sectors – healthcare, defence, information and communication technology, banking and renewable energy.
“An impressive range of companies. For some of them, there are already ideas for future partnership,” said Academician Denkov.
Earlier, Finance Minister Asen Vassilev also spoke with the representatives of the American business.
