The construction of “Rozhen” Blvd. – the connection with the Northern Express Tangent in Sofia – has begun

Today we start the construction of the new “Rozhen” boulevard, which will be the connection with the Northern Express Tangent. This is what Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova told journalists, who was present at the first sod of the boulevard.

The mayor pointed out that this is one of the strategic projects in her program, in which a lot of effort, energy and investment have been invested. Fandakova explained that “Rozhen” boulevard will have two lanes, three lanes in each direction, and there will be local lanes on both sides.

There will also be a tramway that is part of the project, along with all the underground infrastructure, plumbing, lighting and landscaping.

According to the mayor, these two kilometers of track had to be expropriated, which required a lot of work, in order for it to happen and start work on the first section of 400 meters today.

Fandakova pointed out that the deadline for the completion of the entire route is one year and she hopes that it will be ready by the end of 2024. Otherwise, the contractors will suffer sanctions, BTA adds.

We talk a lot about the development of the northern territories, and this was strongly felt after the construction of the Northern high-speed tangent, Fandakova pointed out and added that now the connections with the tangent provide an opportunity for a very seriously planned development of the northern territories.
