Probation for a resident of Varna who did not pay child support to his minor daughter

A 41-year-old father was found guilty that, in the period from June 2017 to the end of May this year, after he was convicted by an effective decision in a civil case of the District Court – Varna, to supports his descendant – his daughter, knowingly failed to fulfill this obligation for more than two monthly installments – a total of 72 monthly installments. The defendant was supposed to pay monthly maintenance to his minor daughter, who lived with her mother and legal representative abroad, but due to inaction and non-payment of the specified contributions on his part, the total value of his obligation for the period amounted to BGN 11,100. The act is a crime under Art. 183, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

With a verdict, a panel of the Varna District Court imposed a “probation” sentence on the 41-year-old defendant. For 8 months, he should carry out two probation measures – mandatory registration at his current address twice a week, as well as hold periodic meetings with a probation officer for the same period. The deadline for appealing the verdict is 15 days.
