On November 2, 2023, the second edition of the BASE Business Academy for start-up entrepreneurs began in Stara Zagora. The program is free and is implemented by the “IT Stara Zagora” Association in partnership with the Association of Bulgarian Leaders and Entrepreneurs (ABLE) and with the support of the “America for Bulgaria” Foundation.

The main goal of BASE is to encourage budding entrepreneurs with an idea or a soon-to-be-started business. Within 12 weeks, all 39 participants will meet with proven business specialists who will impart knowledge in various areas.
At the end of the training, each of the participants will prepare and present an individual business plan for their project. A jury will determine the winners according to predetermined criteria, and the most promising projects will receive a financial incentive from the intended prize fund.

During the opening event, the participants were welcomed by Boryana Peycheva from “IT Stara Zagora”, who is the head of BASE in the city.
“It is extraordinary to see that there are so many enterprising people in Stara Zagora and the region. After the success of the first group in the spring, we are now even more confident that entrepreneurship in Stara Zagora is starting to develop more and more sustainably. The second group is even bigger and we are excited to experience the story of each one of you,” she told the participants.

Among those present was Nadia Zaharieva, Program Director “Business, Entrepreneurship and Technologies” at the America for Bulgaria Foundation, who is one of the driving forces behind the entire program.
Alexander Grozdanov, project leader of BASE, also wished the participants success.

After the greetings, the first lecture of the program began – “Introduction to Entrepreneurship”. She was introduced by Grozdanov, who is the creator and CEO of Dextrophobia Rooms. He talked more about the essentials that every would-be entrepreneur should know and shared numerous examples from his personal experience.

The projects in the second edition of BASE in Stara Zagora are in the most diverse fields – literature, art, photography, psychology, handmade gift items, entertainment industry, beauty salons, online platforms and others.
