Today, after 3:30 p.m., a little over 174,000 ballots are expected to arrive in Ruse for the upcoming runoff this Sunday for mayors of municipalities and town halls in the region.
They will be delivered under enhanced security measures and met on the spot by representatives of the leadership of the Regional Administration and Municipal Election Commissions (MECs) from the region. An organization was created to provide the ballots to the municipalities of the region immediately after unloading. The security of the ballots and election papers will be ensured with constant police protection.
Elections will be held this Sunday in seven of the eight municipalities in the district. In four of them, the elections will be only for mayors of town halls, and in Ruse, Borovo and Dve mogili the candidates for mayors of municipalities also go to the second round. The least ballots are planned for the municipality of Ivanovo. There, elections will be held only in the village of Mechka, and the ballots for those entitled to vote are 500. Only in none of the settlements in the municipality of Tsenovo will elections be held. There, the mayor of the municipality and the mayors of the other 7 municipalities were elected in the first round.
Elections this Sunday in precincts with more than 300 voters, as planned so far, will be held both on paper and through electronic voting machines. The voting method depends on the voter’s wishes. Only paper ballots will be used in sections with less than 300 people. Voting will also be done with paper ballots in mobile sections. In practice, the ballots that will be delivered fully secure the vote in all sections. The ballots provided are fully sufficient for the smooth running of the vote on 5 November.
All materials will be distributed to the sections tomorrow by the respective municipalities. Committee chairs should receive the papers first on the morning of the reflection day.
