Massive construction of residential buildings is underway in Varna

In the third quarter of 2023, local administrations issued construction permits for 2,107 residential buildings with 9,805 dwellings in them and 1,136,008 sq. m of built-up area (GFA), 25 administrative buildings/offices with 78,971 sq. m. m of built-up area and on 1,253 other buildings with 795,230 sq. m of built-up area. Compared to the previous quarter, the issued permits for the construction of residential buildings increased by 3.5%, while the number of dwellings in them decreased – by 18.8%, as well as their total built-up area – by 17.8%. This is what the NSI data show.

In the case of issued permits for the construction of administrative buildings, there was a growth in both their number – by 78.6%, and in their unfolded built-up area – more than four times. Permits issued for the construction of other types of buildings are 8.8% less, but their total built-up area is 25.8% more.

The largest number of permits for the construction of new residential buildings were issued in the regions of Sofia (capital) – 351, Plovdiv – 344, Sofia – 191, Varna – 169, and Burgas – 161.

The largest number of homes are to be started in the regions of Sofia (capital) – 4,099, Plovdiv – 1,218, Burgas – 1,027, Varna – 933, and Sofia – 401.

Construction of the largest number of new buildings has started in the regions: Sofia (capital) – 279 residential, 8 administrative and 31 other buildings; Plovdiv – 239 residential, 5 administrative and 80 other buildings; Varna – 175 residential and 27 other buildings; Sofia – 147 residential and 42 other buildings.
