A panel of the District Court in Dobrich found the defendant guilty of murder and sentenced him to 20 years’ imprisonment, with an initial strict regime of probation.
The defendant B.M. was found guilty of intentionally killing a resident of the village on November 3, 2012, in the village of Bojurovo, Dobrich region, and the act was carried out with particular cruelty. According to the indictment, the crime was committed in the victim’s home after drinking alcohol and a conflict arose between the two men.
The court found B. M. innocent and acquitted him on the initially brought charge regarding the execution of the above act in a particularly painful way for the victim.
The court ruled that the time during which the defendant was detained in custody, starting from March 20, 2019 until the execution of the sentence, should be deducted from the execution of the sentence of deprivation of liberty. According to the data in the case, after a search was conducted on the specified date, the defendant was detained in Germany and brought to the country on the basis of a European Arrest Warrant.
With the verdict of the District Court, the defendant was also sentenced to pay 100,000 leva each to three heirs of the deceased, as compensation for non-property damages. He must also pay the costs incurred in the case, as well as a state fee on the civil claims.
The verdict of the District Court is not final and can be appealed and protested within 15 days before the Court of Appeal – Varna. The reasons for the issued judicial act will be prepared within the statutory period.
