The “Crystal Lyre” 2023 awards for the music and dance art of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Actors and the Cantus Firmus Agency were presented on the Day of the Wakers at a solemn ceremony in the National Music Theater, the “Focus” Agency reported. Two of the crystal statuettes go to the Theater and Music Production Center – Varna State Opera.
In the “Staging team” category, the Varna State Opera was awarded for Leoš Janacek’s first performance in Varna’s opera history with the premiere of the opera “The Cunning Fox”, performed as part of the “Opera in the Summer Theater” festival, a joint project with the MMF “Varna Summer” and the first complete performance in Bulgaria with the first Bulgarian translation of the libretto from the original by the conductor Pavel Balev and the director Vera Nemirova. The team of maestro Balev and Vera Nemirova, the artist Dimana Lateva, the choreographer Anna Pampulova and the lighting designer Daniel Yovkov receive the “Crystal Lyre” for the original staging of the philosophical tale with a message to all ages about the greatest concern of the XXI century – pollution and the need to preserve our ancient home, nature.
In the category “Management in the art of music and dance”, the prize was awarded to Daniela Dimova, director of the Theater and Music Production Center Varna, for the XIV edition of the “Opera in the Summer Theater” festival, which stands out for its creative programming, genre diversity and brilliant Bulgarian and foreign artists, for the effective management, analytical approaches, innovative strategies and successful unification of creative and market principles in contemporary performing arts.
