The roofs that were blown off are in the villages of Katranitsa, in Sivino, in Gorna Arda, in Colonel Serafimovo. A large part of the populated areas in the municipality of Smolyan are without electricity, which also cuts off the power supply in the city of Smolyan. The teams of the municipality are in place to clear the fallen trees,” explained Engineer Tsekova. She expressed concerns about the fact that there are broken electric poles and wires are on the ground and if the power goes out it can be extremely dangerous.

The director of the fire department in Smolyan, commissioner Simeon Tsrvulanov, also reported that there were many reports of fallen trees in the entire Smolyan region. “The most serious are in the municipality of Smolyan. There are reports of fallen trees in many places in the municipalities of Smolyan, Chepelare, Madan, Zlatograd, Banite,” explained Commissioner Tsrvulanov.

An orange code for significant rainfall and thunderstorms has been announced for the Smolyan region today. The expected amount of rain in the region is between 40 and 70 mm, in some places and more.
