First accusations after the beating of a member of the SIC, a man filmed voting several times

The District Prosecutor’s Office – Vidin opened pre-trial proceedings against the two men, one of whom was registered by a member of a sectional committee in the Nov Pat district to vote several times in the first round of Sunday’s local elections.

The second man, A.A. (aged 25), also a member of the commission, allowed this to happen. He is brought as a defendant for a crime committed under Art. 169 of the Criminal Code and his detention was ordered for a period of up to 72 hours, the state prosecution announced. At present, the person is wanted for presentation of a decree for his attraction as an accused.

In another pre-trial proceeding, evidence was collected of the guilt of S.Z. (aged 53). This is the man who voted several times and is reportedly the father of the first. He was brought as a defendant for a crime committed under Art. 168, para. 2 of the Criminal Code and a measure of remand was imposed on him, a cash guarantee in the amount of BGN 1,000. The writ of summons is pending.

The man who filmed the crime was later beaten, for which pre-trial proceedings were also initiated.

The injured K.P. witnessed irregularities on the day of elections for municipal councilors and mayors – how people vote several times and a member of the SEC accepts the ballots. He made a video recording with a phone to document them, the prosecutor’s office specifies.

Subsequently, the man was threatened and attacked by several persons who punched him in the head, face and body.

Meanwhile, after receiving a signal, a police officer arrived at the scene of the accident.

The injured K.P. visited a hospital where he was given medical care.

One of the perpetrators of the crime was a candidate for municipal councilor in the local elections. In view of the provision of Art. 160, para. 1 of the Electoral Code, he is a person who enjoys immunity from criminal prosecution.

Pursuant to Art. 35 of the Criminal Procedure Code, cases against persons with immunity are tried as first instance by the Sofia City Court. In this regard, the District Prosecutor’s Office – Vidin sent the collected materials in the case to the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, which is competent to rule.
