Escobar indicated that there would be no veto if the conditions were met
Bulgaria will not set new conditions for the full integration of North Macedonia in the European Union, the agreed conditions must be fulfilled, stated the special envoy of the USA in the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.
Escobar told VOA that his Bulgarian colleagues assured him that they had no intention of adding more conditions to North Macedonia on the way to the EU. They emphasized that Bulgaria wants to make sure that the region will move forward along the European path.

“I had conversations with my Bulgarian colleagues and they assured me that they have no intention of setting new conditions. They would like to see progress on the roadmap that is already in place. And we want to make sure that we can work with all parties to ensure that those conditions are met. We must be based on facts and existing obligations to ensure that North Macedonia will be able to move forward in the accession process,” the US envoy said.
Escobar indicated that there would be no veto if the conditions were met.
