Cinema Panorama “Kinomania” returns to Plovdiv from November 17 to December 3. In just over 2 weeks, we’ll see 29 titles featuring the latest in art cinema from around the world. The festival will be held at the usual place Lucky House of cinema.
Kinomania opens with a screening of the most successful festival Bulgarian film for this year – “Lessons of Goodness”. Directed by Stefan Komandarev and with the unique participation of Eli Skorcheva, who returned to the big screen after a decades-long hiatus, the film won a bunch of awards, including several prestigious awards at the Karlovy Vary festival in the Czech Republic. The film won the Crystal Globe Grand Prize, the Ecumenical Jury Prize, as well as a prize for the best female role for Eli Skorcheva. The screening is on November 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Another award-winning film in Karlovy Vary is coming to Plovdiv for Kinomania. This is the French “Question of Honor” under the direction of the famous actor Vincent Perez. The film won the “Audience Award” in the Czech Republic, and the screening in Plovdiv will be on November 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Fans of Woody Allen will not be disappointed as the great director returns with another title – “Pure Luck”. The film is a French production with a lot of love, betrayal and revenge, and on the screen we will see the rising star of fresco cinema Nils Schneider as and the well-known Melville Pupo.
In the long-awaited title “Jean du Barry: The King’s Favorite” we will also see Melville Pupo, but there the spotlight is on Johnny Depp and Maywen, who is also the director of the film. The film, which has become the central theme of the Cannes festival, sends us to 18th century France, where Depp plays King Louis XV, a Maiouen – the courtesan of the title. The screening is on December 1 at 6:30 p.m.
Another big name from the world of cinema will be seen in “The Great Fugitive”. There we will get to know the story of an 80-year-old man who runs away from his nursing home to join the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings, and on the big screen we will meet the great Michael Caine. The movie is November 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Kinomania 2023 is being held with the assistance of the Municipality of Plovdiv. Tickets will be on sale from Monday, November 6, with a price of BGN 10 and a BGN 8 discount for students and pensioners.
