Two teachers from the municipality of Dolna Mitropolia presented Bulgaria at an international astronomy symposium in Spain /photos/ – Pleven Press


The director of the Municipal Center for extracurricular activities in the village of Baikal, Ivo Jokin and Maria Petkova, a mathematics and ICT teacher from the “Hristo Smirnenski” elementary school, the village of Orehovitsa, the municipality of Dolna Mitropolia, presented Bulgaria at the International Symposium Network for Astronomy School Education astronomy education)-NASE-UNESCO in the city of Villadecans, Barcelona for the final stage of the “Search for micrometeorites” project, in which 17 teachers and 40 students from the municipality and the whole country participated during the 19th Baikal National Astro Party. The event is part of Spain’s “Ciencia en Acción” (Science on Stage), where the country will determine its delegation for the International Festival in the city of Turku, Finland in August 2023. Bulgarian teachers are also very actively and successfully participating in this festival .

On the first day of the festival, we conducted experiments on the search for micrometeorites with students from the “Institut Educacio Secundaria de Sales” school.


During the event, an International Online Symposium was also held on the results of the NASE-UNESCO project to search for micrometeorites from Mongolia, China, Armenia, Germany, Spain, Romania, Argentina and Bulgaria.
