With a memorial service, a military ritual and the laying of wreaths and flowers in front of the Memorial to those who died in the wars for national unification, Ruse honored the soldiers who gave their lives for Bulgaria.

His Eminence Metropolitan Naum of Ruse and priests from the Holy Metropolis of Ruse performed a funeral prayer in memory of the fallen Bulgarian soldiers, regional governor Danail Kovachev and acting mayor of Ruse Dimitar Nedev said words for those who shed their blood for the Motherland.

“This stew is called a man’s stew by our people, because on this day we bow to the memory of all those who heroically died on the battlefields for the freedom of our dear homeland. We believe that the human soul is immortal and will remain so with God for all eternity. We also confess our hope, because we strongly believe and are confident in God’s mercy. We hope that the Lord will gather all of us again in his kingdom and the deceased and us and those who come after us,” said HE Metropolitan Nahum. He also called for sincere love for everyone.

At the end of the ceremony, those present fell into a minute of silence to show their respect for the feat of the fallen. Wreaths and flowers were laid at the memorial.
