The court left in permanent custody the head of RUO – Stara Zagora Tatiana Dimitrova and her associate Georgi P. They are accused of coercion of officials, reports 24 hours.
The case in Stara Zagora was delayed because Dimitrova’s lawyer asked to familiarize herself more thoroughly with the documents. The defense asked for a lighter measure, but the prosecution refused, arguing that there was evidence of a crime.
62-year-old Dimitrova and 55-year-old Georgi P. are accused of, in the period from January 10, 2019 to January 25 of the same year, in complicity as co-perpetrators, forcing a senior expert in the Regional Education Department (RUO) in Stara Zagora to commit something against his will, namely re-examination in a secondary school in the district town. The goal was to change the findings from a previous one, as T. D. abused her power in her capacity as head of RUO-Stara Zagora.
More than 30 witnesses were questioned during the pre-trial proceedings. The prosecutor’s office in Stara Zagora confirmed that the two are in no danger of absconding, but they may influence the questioning of witnesses. They did not rule out the possibility of another crime being committed from the accusation.
The measure can be appealed to the Court of Appeal in Plovdiv. The meeting there will take place on November 14 at 10 am.
On Thursday, the procedural-investigative actions were carried out at the Criminal Investigation Department in Stara Zagora with a view to collecting evidence for a crime of a general nature.
