The election day in the municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa started on time and without any significant problems. There are several absent members of the SEC who will be replaced, but this does not affect the work of the committees.
All machines that will be used to vote today are also working normally.
There is tension in Varbitsa, but for now it is expressed only in a peaceful protest in front of the polling stations. Several residents of the village have gathered in front of the school with placards “Stop the paid vote”, “No to electoral tourism”. They are protesting the practice of registering strangers to local people 6 months before the vote so they can vote in local elections. We want a change in the law to prevent this from happening, the protesters told NOVA’s camera.
At this point, at least, the protesters promise they won’t try to forcefully prevent newly registered voters from voting, since they still have that right.
There are 38,020 voters on the list submitted by the CEC for the runoff in the municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa.
In all the settlements today there will be a vote for municipal mayor, and the choice is between Dobromir Dobrev and Nikolay Rashkov. There is also a runoff in Dolna Oryahovitsa, Polikraishte and Pisarevo.
