A total of 409 regional police officers are guarding the election day in Sliven region, the press center of the police in Sliven announced. The election day in the Sliven district began in a calm atmosphere, the police say.
The security of the election premises last night proceeded normally. All necessary measures have been taken to protect public order, fire safety and ensure a peaceful election day.
So far, there are no reports of events that would threaten the normal conduct of the elections.
As BTA reported, yesterday a member of the election commission in the Sliven village of Gorno Alexandrovo was detained on suspicion of illegal actions.
Employees of the “Bulgarian Identity Documents” (BDS) sector in Sliven, Nova Zagora, Kotel and Tvarditsa continue to issue certificates to citizens with lost, stolen or damaged identity cards so that they can exercise their right to vote. The working hours of the BDS sector today are from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. As applications for certificates are accepted until 7:00 p.m., collection takes place until 7:30 p.m.
The Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Sliven operates a telephone line 044 644 645, where citizens can report violations of the electoral process in the conduct of the elections for mayors and municipal councils.
