Contested battle in Haskovo: Election day has started without problems

The election day on the territory of the municipality of Haskovo has started without problems. This was announced by the municipal election commission. In one of the villages, the electricity stopped for a short time, but this did not prevent the operation of the machine. There are 152 sections in Haskovo municipality, in 136 of them voting is also done by machine. On the territory of the district, there are runoffs for municipal mayors, in addition to Haskovo, in Simeonovgrad. In three of the municipalities there are runoffs for mayors of town halls. The remaining 9 municipalities elected a mayor in the first round. 73,000 are eligible to vote in Haskovo municipality, 60,000 of them vote in the city.

Until now, there is not a single complaint or report of irregularity that has been received by the municipal election commission. Its members were summoned for questioning because of the incident with Asen Vassilev. Last week, he was unable to vote in Haskovo because it turned out that he was removed from the list, since he appeared in the GRAO database with a current address in the United States from 20 years ago. During the week, Vasilev stated that he had prepared documents with which he would be able to vote today. The OIC in the city states that the only option for this to happen is for Vassilev to present a document that his current address on the territory of the USA has been deleted.
