This was stated by President Rumen Radev during his participation in a solemn meeting on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Higher School of Security and Economics (VUSI) in Plovdiv, BTA reports.
The president of VUSI Prof. Georgi Manolov and the management of the higher school presented the diplomas to the graduates of the Class of 2023. The event was attended by the regional governor of Plovdiv Iliya Zyumbilev, the mayor of the city Zdravko Dimitrov, and business representatives.
“You have managed to choose specialties that are relevant today, because I assure you from experience that at the current EU councils, at all forums at a high political and expert level, in all strategic documents and programs, the words that most meet – these are security, economy, good governance”, the head of state pointed out.
He said that we need not just strategic documents and programs, but trained people to analyze and understand complex processes.
“In the conditions of never-before-seen dynamic problems in geopolitical terms, deteriorating security environment, shocks in the economy, crises of all kinds, we need prepared people like you,” added the head of state.
According to him, national security is a complex and all-encompassing matter, and that means having more than just adequate armed forces and police. Radev pointed out that building and achieving a reliable level of national security requires commitment, coordination and interaction of all state institutions, local authorities, businesses, and every single citizen of the state.
The head of state commented that the war in Ukraine has turned into a war of attrition, of logistics, into a global economic clash, and for this the good management of all processes in national security and the economy is of key importance.
