The day of the runoff for mayors in the settlements in the Targovishte district, where the mayor was not elected in the first round, began in a calm atmosphere. All necessary measures have been taken to protect public order, fire safety and ensure the normal course of the election day. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have taken over the security of the 14 polling places in 12 settlements in the district, where runoffs are being held today, informed the Regional Directorate (OD) of the Ministry of the Interior.
The “Bulgarian Identity Documents” sector organization was created in the Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior-Trade and the passport units in the Regional Administration (RU) – Popovo and RU-Omurtag to work on the day of the runoff with citizens from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. And today, in order to exercise the voting rights of citizens, voting certificates will be issued to those of them who do not have valid documents (identity card or personal /green/passport because they are lost, stolen, damaged, destroyed or expired) .
Certificates providing the opportunity to exercise the right to vote on the day of local government elections are issued only after an application for the issuance of an identity card has been accepted. The certificate is issued to serve only before the sectional election commission and is valid only for the election day.
Armed persons and those carrying objects dangerous to the life and health of citizens are not allowed in the polling station. The use of mobile phones, cameras or other recording equipment to record the voting process is prohibited. The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will intervene to restore order when this is necessary and there is a corresponding decision of the election commission, the directorate reminds.
As BTA reported, in three of the five municipalities of the Targovishte region there is a runoff for the election of a mayor of a town hall.
