Two cars overturned in a roadside ditch and three people were injured in an accident on the Montana-Lom road last night, reported the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montana.
At 6:55 p.m., while driving from Montana to Lom near the village of Rasovo, an unlicensed driver from the village of Zamfir with an Audi A4 overtook, but did not leave enough distance and rammed the overtaking Volkswagen Passat from the side with a driver, a 20-year-old man from Lom. After the impact, the two cars became uncontrollable and successively left the road and overturned in the fields next to the lane.
Three people were injured – the disqualified driver had a broken pelvis and multiple other fractures, and the driver and a 54-year-old passenger from the other car had bodily injuries and lacerations. The three were admitted to a hospital in Lom. Due to the serious condition of the driver who caused the accident, he was not tested for alcohol, and the sample of the other driver was negative.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case under Article 343 of the Criminal Code, the police directorate in Montana said.
In recent months, criminal offenses in the Montana region have decreased compared to the previous two years, but traffic accidents have increased slightly, Montana police said.
