The young generation of heirs of the Bulgarian royal family flocked to the celebration of the coming of age of the Spanish Infanta Leonor, which was attended by the elite of the European royal families, writes “Telegraph”.
Of course, they came along with their parents – a son, a daughter and one of King Simeon’s daughters-in-law, who are close friends with the current King Felipe VI, formerly Prince of Asturias.
The birthday took place on the evening of October 31, after the heir to the crown, Leonor, swore to the Spanish constitution.
One by one in separate limousines arrived in El Pardo Miriam Hungary, widow of Prince Kardam, together with the Bulgarian heir to the title – Boris, and his brother Beltran; Prince Kubrat with his wife Carla Royo-Villanova and their three sons Lukas, Tirso and Mirko; as well as Princess Kalina together with Kitin Muñoz and their son Simeon-Hasan.
Prince Cyril and Rosario Nadal and their children, as well as Prince Constantine-Assen, were not seen at the celebration.
The Bulgarian royal family mixed with their relatives who formed the royal family of Spain. Leonor’s birthday was attended by her two aunts – Infanta Elena and Christina, with some of their grown children – first cousins of the future queen. Princess Elena’s son – Froilan, arrived from the UAE, where he had been living with his grandfather, the abdicated Spanish King Juan Carlos, for some time.
He himself appeared at the private party, although he was not admitted to the official ceremony at the Cortes on the morning when his granddaughter swore allegiance to the crown. Of course, so was his wife – Queen Sofia, who has a strong relationship with her granddaughter Leonor.
Sofia also preferred not to be at the official events, so that the absence of the elderly king would not be even more obvious. Immediately after the end of the birthday, he flew to London to sleep, and from there to Abu Dhabi.
However, Grandmother Sofia lives in one of the royal palaces in Madrid.
At the official swearing-in, Infanta Leonor appeared in a white pantsuit by Agustin García, her father’s favorite couturier. He created the uniform in 2004 that Felipe wore when he married Leonor’s mother, Leticia. Almost the same white double-breasted suit can also be found in Zara stores, commented El Periodico.
Her mother, Queen Letizia, was traditionally in a dark blue dress, modeled by Carolina Herrera.
