Tania Hristova: I voted for Gabrovo to continue its European path of development

On the Day of the People’s Agitators, this year’s April Prizes for Literature ceremony took place in the “Hristo Tsokev” Art Gallery. The competition is aimed at authors who were born or have long resided in the territory of the municipality of Gabrovo. The founders are the Municipality of Gabrovo, Society of Writers – Gabrovo, People’s Community Center “Aprilov-Palauzov – 1861”, Regional Library “Aprilov-Palauzov”, publishing house “EX-PRESS”, with partners Regional Administration – Gabrovo, Museum “House of Humor and Satire” “, Regional open-air ethnographic museum “Eter”, ND “Zora-1872”, Nova Mahala quarter.

Reviewer and chairman of the jury this year was Prof. Dr. Nikolay Dimitrov – Bulgarian literary historian, specialist in Bulgarian literature from the Renaissance and the era of Bulgarian modernism.

Nikolay Dimitrov is a professor, teaching department of “Bulgarian literature” at Veliko Tarnovo University. Maria Shandurkova was awarded the Aprilov Award for Lifetime Achievement – a statuette and certificate from the Municipality of Gabrovo, as well as a free reader’s card from the “Aprilov-Palauzov” Regional Library.

The award was presented by the Mayor of Gabrovo Municipality, Maria Yozova, who addressed all the people of the pen in our city with words of appreciation and wishes for health and inspiration and emphasized: “May your greatest award be your new reader!” Believe in the meaning of what I think we really need – to cultivate the awakener in ourselves and give something to someone!”

April Prize for the best book of the year in the category:

• Fiction – diploma and monetary award from the Regional Administration – Gabrovo was awarded to Stoyan Tsonev for the book “Samsi Boycho, veteran voivode”
• Historical /local lore/ literature – Nikolay Hristov received a certificate and monetary award from the “Aprilov-Palauzov” Regional Library for the book “History of the Gabrovo Bar Association”
• Literature for children – The certificate and monetary award from the People’s Community Center “Aprilov-Palauzov 1861” was presented to Dimitrina Grigorova, Polina Staneva for “Story Therapy”
• A book with a humorous/satirical content – certificate and monetary award from Museum “House of Humor and Satire” was awarded to Veselin Zidarov for the book “Trevna Starlings”

April Prize “Free Manuscript Printing” from “Ex-Press” publishing house – Gabrovo received Petya Tsoneva for the manuscript “And sure, when I find out”
