/KROSS/ The virtuoso violinist Vadim Repin is again a guest at the Sofia Philharmonic on November 9. Among the particularly notable moments in Vadim Repinprez’s career in the last few seasons are the tours with the London Symphony Orchestra, with the NHK Orchestra and Charles Dutoit in Japan, with the London Philharmonic and Vladimir Yurovsky. The premiere performances of the violin concerto written especially for him by Sir James MacMillan in London, Philadelphia, Carnegie Hall – New York, the Pleyel Hall in Paris, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the BBC Prom cycle at the Royal Albert Hall have been highly acclaimed. was recorded by Onyx Classics.
Vadim Repin has recorded concertos by Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky for Warner Classics, Beethoven and Brahms for Deutsche Grammophon, various trios with Misha Maisky and Lang Lang for Echo Classic and sonatas with Nikolai Lugansky, which won the BBC Music Award.
In 2010, for his overall creative activity dedicated to music, he received the Victoire d’Honneur music award, making him an Officier des Arts et Lettres of France. In 2014, he became an honorary professor at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and in 2015 at the Shanghai Conservatory, in recognition of his work with young musicians. His highly acclaimed Trans-Siberian Arts Festival, held annually since 2014, brings outstanding music to his home region, reaching Israel, Japan and a host of other destinations. The festival also gives him the opportunity to commission new violin concertos by prominent composers such as Lera Auerbach, Benjamin Yusupov, Mark-Anthony Turnidge and Sofia Gubaidulina.
