A young driver fell asleep behind the wheel and rolled over on a ceiling near Gabrovo

A specialized police operation using the “wide-ranging control” method took place yesterday on the main road between Sofia – Varna, on the territory of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Gabrovo.

It was attended by employees from the Gabrovo ODMVR, as well as the territorial structures of the Road Infrastructure Agency, the Executive Agency of the Automobile Administration, the Customs Agency and the National Revenue Agency.

Police officers carried out checks for the use of alcohol, narcotic substances, impaired driving, failure to give way to traffic, use of seat belts and restraint systems for drivers and passengers in vehicles.

The law enforcement authorities also monitored the use of protective helmets, compliance with the prohibitions on the use of mobile phones while driving vehicles, without a “Hands-free” device, increased control over truck drivers; buses, two- and three-wheeled vehicles, control of bicycle drivers.

The employees of the ODMVR – Gabrovo carried out an inspection of 93 cars, 16 trucks and 131 persons. 10 violations were found, and 25 electronic slips were handed out.

Employees from the Road Infrastructure Agency inspected 32 trucks and found 1 violation. The control bodies of the RD “Automobile Administration” have checked 4 trucks.

Employees of the “National Revenue Agency” checked 7 trucks, and from the “Customs” Agency – 10 heavy-duty vehicles.
