In the competition of over 1000 competitors from 21 countries, the Bulgarian athletes in these categories once again proved their class and added 12 cups and 15 silver medals.

The competition was officially opened by Prof. Daniela Dasheva, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports.

“I am happy that I am attending this tournament for perhaps the fifth time. I see more and more parents and children in the hall. It means your sport is alive. It is alive thanks to the enthusiasm of people like Dimitar Mihailov and you. I am here as a representative of the Ministry of Sports, but we are not sympathetic to the organization of this competition. It was organized entirely by Dimitar Mihailov and his father. I hope that next year we will learn a lesson to support not only the organization, but also the athletes and coaches. Taekwondo is important for us because we are expecting an Olympic quota. Mass is important, but it is also important to have champions,” said Prof. Dasheva.

Official guests were Slavi Binev, president of BF Taekwondo, football legend from the World Cup in the USA Emil Kostadinov, boss Ivan Manchev, who also trains taekwondo.

During the ceremony, the chairman of the organizing committee, Dimitar Mihailov, awarded sports equipment to Marina Mihailska and Kristiyan Georgiev, winners of silver and bronze medals from the European Cadet Championship, which took place a month ago in Belgrade (Serbia).

Today, “Ramus Sofia Cup” continues with the open tournament, which is valid for the European ranking.
