According to the prosecutor’s office, he bought votes for one of the candidates for municipal mayor
The newly elected mayor of the Kavarna village of Belgun, Blagomir Stanev, has been detained for 24 hours on suspicion of buying votes for the runoff in Kavarna municipality, where the legendary former mayor Tsonko Tsonev is pitted against the current mayor, Elena Baltajieva.
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Dobrich claims that they have sufficient evidence that Blagomir Stanev bought votes for one of the candidates.
Blagomir Stanev is a well-known figure in the political life of the Dobrich region. In April 2021, after the parliamentary elections, the prosecutor’s office in Dobrich started an investigation into Blagomir Stanev’s claims that he was beaten on the night of the elections in the presence of the then chairman of the Municipal Council in Kavarna Yordan Stoyanov.
Then he was mayor, appointed by GERB, for his current mandate he was a candidate of PP “Novoto Vreme”.
