The legendary defender of Manchester United – Rio Ferdinand, who now works as a football analyst, comments on the situation with the club’s summer newcomer Mason Mount.
What did Rio have to say about Mount?
The 24-year-old has opted to join Manchester United this summer for a fee of £60m. Unfortunately, Mount has struggled for his starting spot, registering just one assist in nine appearances and is yet to score his first goal for the club.
“Not to disparage Chelsea, but he was a golden boy and now he’s barely getting into the starting XI. He’s never really been the target of negativity. He’s never been tested like that in his life.”said Ferdinand.
“He needed Frank Lampard’s support when he was at Derby County and then when he came back to Chelsea. But the pressure when you come to Manchester United carries a different weight on your shoulders, the badge is heavier when things aren’t going well “the legend added.
Mount has found himself on the bench at Manchester United in recent weeks. He will certainly be looking to return to the starting XI against Copenhagen in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday, November 8.
