The longest-serving mayor in the entire country, that of Popovo, Lyudmil Veselinov, begins his 9th term. He won the first democratic elections way back in 1991 and has held the mayor’s chair ever since. In these elections, nearly 63% of the municipality’s residents voted for him in the first round.
Hayredin Mehmedov will govern for 2 full terms in Antonovo. More than 57% of those who went to the polls voted for him. In the 2019 elections, he won again in the first round – then with 59%. In all the villages in the municipality, the mayors were elected in the first round.
