Kardjali’s great friend Shaban Rodoplou from Bursa was awarded the title of Rotary Ambassador of Bulgaria. This happened during a solemn ceremony on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Rotary District 2482 Bulgaria. The award was presented by district governor Hristo Mihailovski in front of Rotarians from all over the country and guests from all European countries.

Shaban Rodoplu has roots from Kardzhali. He is the assistant district governor of Bursa. For 20 years, he has been working to implement socially significant projects with Kardzhali and Bulgaria.

In his famous speech, Shaban Rodoplu shared: Dear friends, first of all, as a representative of the ICC Turkey-Bulgaria committee, I want to express my gratitude for the fact that you consider me worthy of this award. For 20 years I have been working for mutual cooperation and tolerance between our countries. We made a lot of efforts together with many of my friends from Rotary for the development of relations between Bulgaria and Turkey – Rudy from Lovech; Athanasius of Kazanlak, Loved in Haskovo; Stanley in Kardzhali; Ruža in Zlatograd are the names that come to my mind. This award glorifies brotherhood and friendship between our countries and peoples. Let it be a gift for those who strive for this friendship. The president of the Rotary Club of Kardzhali proposed me for this award. Once again, I would wanted to thank Sevdalin and the club members: assistant district governor Pancho; to my friend Sebahatin, to my colleague Cevdet, who was my spokesperson for Bulgaria, to my daughter Ayten, who was my writing hand in Bulgaria, concluded Shaban Rodoplu.

Rotary International is the largest non-governmental organization member of the United Nations. It is the third most influential humanitarian organization in the world. Until now, she has donated over 4.5 billion dollars to humanitarian initiatives. Thanks to her, the number of polio cases in the world has been reduced to 8.

The 90th anniversary of Rotary Bulgaria was celebrated in the capital in the presence of the Minister of Health Hristo Hinkov. Niki Kanchev was the host. The anthem of Rotary Bulgaria was performed by Vasil Petrov. Orlin Goranov sang for those present.

A charity auction of paintings and books with autographs by their authors was held. Among the canvases were those of the luminaries Svetlin Rusev and Georgi Baev.

District Governor Hristo Mihailovski announced that the collected funds will be directed to the support of a Bulgarian talent who will study in Modena, Italy in the master class of opera prima Raina Kabaivanska.

Rotary district 2482 Bulgaria sets itself the goal of working to overcome the demographic crisis in the country. The celebration was preceded by a scientific conference on this topic.
